COVID-19 related absences

Your safety remains our top priority as we continue to adjust our response to COVID-19 based on guidance from public health officials and our own medical experts. We are returning to Amazon’s standard sick leave policy starting August 19, 22. We will no longer offer Amazon’s voluntary COVID-specific leave types. However, accrued time may be used to cover a COVID-19 related absence, and other leave options (including sick leave options) may also be available, where applicable or required by law. To discuss applicable leave options for COVID-19 related absences, contact Disability and Leave Services at 1-888-892-7180. Otherwise, sick leave and other absences should be reported as you normally report your absences (My HR/A to Z).

As we have throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to adjust our response to align with:

  • The guidance from public health authorities
  • The advice of our own medical experts

Amazon-sponsored COVID-19 testing continues to be available where required by state or local law. Free COVID-19 testing is now widely available. Our employees have many options. These include through health providers and community-based testing sites. Visit Community-based testing sites for COVID-19 for more details. You can also visit covid.gov to find more information about vaccine, testing, and treatment availability in your area.

Blue and white badge employees can call the Medical Advice Line at 1-888-434-9473, available 24 hours, 7 days a week, for help to locate free, local COVID-19 vaccination and testing services.

When should I report a COVID-19 case or close contact?

As a US employee, report your case if you:

  1. Tested positive for COVID-19.
  2. Are told to quarantine by a healthcare provider or government agency due to exposure to COVID-19.

You can report your case via the self-service DLS Portal, which is available in A to Z under "Resources". Employees can use it to submit, update, or check on the status of a COVID-19-related leave request. Employees are able to self-manage their leave options and can use any combination of accrued time and/or statutory leave benefits to cover an absence.

Note that, where required by law, pay and time off for eligible employees in the California will be processed automatically when they report their COVID-19 test via A to Z.

Finding medical care

If you cannot find a healthcare provider or test center, or have COVID-19 medical questions, contact the Medical Advice Line at 1-888-434-9473.

If you cannot find the answer to your question, contact the ERC at 1-888-892-7180, then follow the prompts to speak with a COVID Resource Center Associate.
