Other absences related to COVID-19

Go to the Disability and Leave Services (DLS) portal to report your absence. You can access it from A to Z:

  1. Sign in to A to Z.
  2. From the bottom of the page, click Resources under NEED HELP?
  3. Click Leave of Absence, Accommodation, and Report Covid-19.
  4. Click Self > COVID-19.

You can also contact the DLS team (Monday–Friday, 5 a.m.–8 p.m. PST) at 1-888-892-7180. You will be asked to provide documentation of your confirmed diagnosis or the request to quarantine, unless Amazon has asked you to quarantine.

Do not come to work for one week (7 calendar days), or the amount of days established by state or local guidelines, and seek medical assistance as needed. You may receive a call from your local Department of Health. Comply with their requests to help prevent the spread of infection in your community.

We have several things in place to support you

  • Your time is covered. Once you apply for leave, a case manager will email you specific guidance. In most cases, the following documentation is required:
    • A COVID-related reason from your healthcare provider or government agency (a notice of quarantine due to COVID-19 or a confirmation of COVID-19 like symptoms), positive test results, or negative results with quarantine orders specific to COVID-19.
    • Your full name.
    • The date of your visit, testing, or diagnosis (depending on the type of document you submit).
  • Is there someone I can talk to? What COVID-19 resources has Amazon made available? The Medical Advice Line is available to the Amazon workforce. You can use it for help with questions about COVID-19, including where to find vaccination or testing sites. Call the Medical Advice Line at 1-888-434-9473, available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
  • Have other questions? Contact Amazon's COVID Resource Center at 1-855-361-3804.

The documentation required for a person who lives in your household has to include the following:

  • Document that matches your last name
  • Your same address on file
  • A positive test result or household quarantine notice
  • The date of diagnosis or quarantine request

If your documents don’t match your last name or address, proof is required that you and the person who you submitted documents for live at the same address.

If you think you have COVID-19, stay home and seek medical assistance as needed. Common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever (100.4°F or higher), new cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, and loss of taste or smell.

The Medical Advice Line is available to you, 24 hours, 7 days a week, to answer your questions and help you find medical care anytime. Call them at 1-888-434-9473.

Frequently asked questions

How will I receive my time off?

Your time off will be processed automatically once your case is approved. This time off is unpaid unless otherwise indicated by state-specific regulations. You should receive this pay on your upcoming pay date(s). Your paid time off may appear in multiple checks, depending on the day of the week you started your time off. This pay will show up for employees as “Regular” or “Guarantee pay”.

If you have questions about your pay, visit A to Z.

The quarantine and isolation period changed to one week (7 calendar days) days (except where indicated otherwise by state or local guidelines). Am I required to return to work sooner if I am already in isolation or quarantine?

No. Employees who began an isolation or quarantine prior to the announcement will still be provided their full  days that were communicated at the time. However, we are excited to welcome you back to work and you may return after one week (7 calendar days) days if you wish.

Can I return to work earlier if I have COVID-19 or have been asked to quarantine?

No. You may only return to work after you have completed the required isolation duration specified by Amazon, a local health authority, or applicable law or requirement. The isolation duration may not be less than one week (7 calendar days) from symptom onset, unless the Operations leadership (OLT) has granted an exception.

Note that loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and should not delay the end of isolation.

What if I have been in close contact with someone on-site with a confirmed case of COVID-19?

If you have been in close contact with someone on-site with a positive confirmed case, we will reach out to you proactively so that you can quarantine yourself for one week (7 calendar days) since the last time you were on-site, or the amount of days established by state or local guidelines. All fully vaccinated employees who have been in quarantine due to COVID-19 will receive one week (7 calendar days) of excused time, and will not be able to return to the site during that period.

If you are fully vaccinated, note the following guidance:

  1. If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and you are asymptomatic, you are not required to quarantine as long as your vaccine status has been verified in A to Z. However, you still need to monitor for any COVID-19 symptoms for the one week (7 calendar days) following the date of exposure, or the amount of days established by state or local guidelines. Additionally, a COVID-19 test is recommended after the close contact, per state or local guidelines.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and you are symptomatic, you are required to quarantine.
  3. All employees, regardless of vaccination status, must comply with all applicable COVID-19 requirements, including:
    • Social distancing
    • Symptom check
    • Temperature screening
    • Cleaning
    • Hygiene
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
